*Revised*7th week - One of my happening week so far...

This week, i worked quite hard for most of the days in this week, but also got slack a little bit whereby the colleague that is supposed to feedback on what should i edit next, but he is busy somehow. Others in the company are not sure about database design, they mostly know how to provide customer support and fixing of errors. Haiz, But things look to be changing in 8th week. Hope so =) Around wednesday, I attended to a sales promoter that appears to be selling something. Upon much question and answer, he is helping to promote a jap food restaurant just behind bugis mrt and bugis junction place. As this promotion has been newly launched, he offered a booklet with 2 member promotional cards with offers stretching to 31 jan 2006. The restaurant is called Shinryoku yakitori and has won reward recently. Mayb if u all crave for jap food in bugis area, i am able to lend a card. The more the people, the bigger the savings. Especially if there are any celebrations or gatherings. Note that this offer is only exclusively available for current BIT SIP students only. If u all want know more information, u can choose to tag or sms my hp asap as reservations are required before going to the restaurant if there are more than 4 people going.

And besides that, on friday, because of the affilations between the colleague and an Amway company which originates in US, I am persuaded somehow into direct distributor-sales person that order goods directly from company through internet. Even though i am not ready to join, he prepared everything and explained details to me. Apart from that, i treat it as a part-time experience. Most of all, it can be refunded for my initial amount for the basic start-up package. I will most likely treat this as another experience as i may quit if things does not went well in these few months. From what i think of myself, it is possible to sell something as the products are of top notch quality. Never mind, i will gain some experience somehow. So this week ended quite interestingly. With the company web coming back into action soon, work load for support will be reduced while improving quality of service provided. Less documents will be needed to be printed out and instructions will be disseminated in a faster manner. I will seek to finish off the remaining DFD level 1 diagrams as i may have chance to evaluate on this supposedly internal company website. Hmmm, how will I be affected? Maybe no impact temporarily. I shall analyse further on it soon.

But saturday's trip to escape theme park is not that enjoyable. For me, i feel that it is only a B- experience. Queues are long, rides in charge people are not considerate and helpful at times, there are not much scenery to view while in the air and there are not many interesting things. And to me as a first-experience, i dun feel that i will go there for a long time to come. Short go-kart race-tracks, machines seem to be requiring maintenance at times and long queues are some reasons for not going there. Lucky these tickets are provided free from my friend as it is the last day or else tickets will be wasted. Thx ya, I will not forget this anyway.

I personally like the boat splasing from high point into a river like area. Quite cooling for this area and of course the go-kart is nice but laps are short for a better enjoyment. Ok la, the inverter is nice also, but may make u a bit dizzy only. Haunted house is not that scary at all as it is just the noise within that may rattles you for a while only. Ghosts are not that frightened, house is too small. I wonder will it be the same for the rest of the year or not. This idea may get rusty soon if the management does not improve on the quality of scaring people with a proper sequence for example. Also, if the theme park opens longer, a few more rides and tracks are added while improving on a better service, ticket sales will definately be better and there will be more income. And i will end this post by saying that to get proper time management should be the key to play games and study at the same time. Facing distractions or getting a float-in-an-open-space may result in a certain number of failures. But if 1 can attain more success than failure, that person will most likely known to be good at reversing his/her own fortunes. But for most BIT guys, hard work seems to be knocking on your door step in a few weeks time. Think it through for some guys out there, including myself also.

U will never know what U can improve, if you dun even know your own weaknesses to overcome tougher obstacles.

5th week, 6th week, my agonies

For the 5th and 6th week of my SIP, I am mostly involved in the documentation of the on-going Transport module project. Most of the time, i am able to get help from my colleagues whenever they are free. On most days, i went for lunch with them accompanying me. Day by day, we get along quite well. I understand them better, as one of the colleague works part time as a sales agent for the Amway company that sells a variety of products. He showed me the catalogue and i am convinced by his demostration of a cleaning agent product. I therefore bought it and found it to be quite a good product. Together with some other colleagues, they sometimes crack jokes while working. The work load that they have are quite stressful at times as bugs and customers enquiries often comes in. Personally, i feel that mr lam make a good decision to give us attachment opportunity as we students can help out to reduce their stress while learning at the same time.

While the relationship with colleagues are considered not bad but still can be improved, the relationship amongst the attachment students have not been as good as i thought. Chin ting's friendship with another student which is coincidentally my secondary school classmate is quite good as the two of them often went for lunch together. Then the 4th attachment student which is a malay guy, seldom talks to me as i sometimes cannot understand what he says sometimes. He talks fast as i find difficulty to strike a conversation with him. As for my BIT partner, Chin ting, i find it hard at times to talk for even 10 sentences a day as there just does not seems to hav anything to talk about. Fortunately, due to an average friendship with my secondary school friend, i manage to chat with the attachment students much better. Before that though, Chin Ting only went for lunch with me for first few days even when colleagues allow us to lunch together. Not until this recent week, i get a chance to lunch with the two female attachment students. Next week, I shall try to find ways to build up good friendship with the three attachment students that shall makes my working not that bored.

Of course, work have not been that boring as sometimes the colleagues words can make everyone feel comfortable and happy. There are also incidents that help to build up friendship among attachment students, but that does not seems to be significant enough. Haiz, coupled with Nokia failed to contact me at all for the past week and the faltering stretch for any DHL award, my mood for the past few weeks is sort of being banished from heaven to the brink of hell. I know letting go somethings are inevitable, but how can one willing to let go so many things within a few months? Ok ok, i shall temporary stop here as i shall try be a more happier person. One thing interesting is that most of the students that own a PS2 does not have a DHL award at all. How true is that? Think about it...

There is no way a person can be sad if he attempts to be a happier person.

Ended my 5th week of SIP in despair...

Wat a sad week for me. Nokia care centre in CS cheated my original battery that costs $58. Almost fall sick to headaches and sore throats for the last few days. Had been boiling lots of water for the company for this entire week. Editing null values for every table of transport module. And most tiring but good thing is linking of foreign keys to primary keys for more than 25 tables. Next week, i shall draw up DFDs and mayb can start on screen design. Just hope that i will not be disappointed next week as i hope good things appear out of nowhere for me. As i have contact nokia by email in the last week, i hope some of their representatives can contact me by tuesday the latest. Or else, what shall i do? Send e-mail again, or contact through their main hotline? Btw, I dun think that a lot of people have nokia call centre number right? So here is... 6512 5771. U can find ur hp repair job status by calling their number. I shall try call them if they do not contact me through email by this coming tuesday. Oh btw, i changed this blog song to naruto midi theme? Not bad huh? well... i shall change it every week to a different midi eack week to give fresh hearing pleasure each week.

I am currently in the midst of bulding good relationships with my colleagues and learn things from them. For the following week starting tomorrow, i shall have more chances to learn things from them. Entering the sixth week, my SIP have been a bit enjoyable so far. I have learnt quite a few things for the past few weeks and my toe is recovering gradually. Sometimes i am tired, but i perserve and will continue to learn more new things. Basically, i have learnt about 90% of the admin stuffs and have been participating in the projects with what i have learned in previous semesters in school. I have been taught alot of new field names and their meanings. I have been exposed to logistics and i feel that it adds more value to my SIP learning experience. So far, things look good for me. Hopes that i can build better realationships with my 3 other SIP partners as we have not even lunched together to discuss our experience yet. I believes the next few weeks shall be more interesting if i continue to put in even greater effort. I will be back blogging once i get nokia's reply. Till then, see ya and enjoy my midi of the week!

Finding altenatives are ways of overcoming disappoinments.

*REVISED on Wed* Weekend Glory, Monday Sorrow.

Last Weekend are some of my happiest days of recent months. On Saturday, I went to the game store around Blk 201 at 8pm to buy the new release (165 cards) magic the gathering card set, known as Saviors of Kamigawa. As there was no custom set made for me, i had to spend more than $260(A set + Fat value pack costs $260). But Luckily, I get quite a couple of good cards, of which 2 pithing of needle cards are worth at least $50. After discounting those valuable cards, I found that I took about $288 to complete the set myself. Thanks to my luck getting better a bit in recent months that I managed to reduce the huge losses that i can possibly make. Or else, i would need to even spend more than $338 without any valuable extra cards with me. Therefore, i completed my set in a day. Today is also my pay day too. Though I did not gain much, the most important thing is that i did not lose much to make me spend more than my budget.

Had I thought of selling my extra 12 packs to the shop on sunday, I would have only spent $302 only. And I would have only spent less than $260 on a set itself, excluding the valuable extras that can be worth up to $50. But i don't blame myself, as i probably thought that there are good cards amongst the 12 packs. Alas, i opened the remaining packs, much to my disappointment. Only a few good cards which can at most fetch about $15 and the rest are crap cards. Anyway, i had a fun time opening and sorting my cards. So, i spent some time at the shop there chatting a bit with the sales people there and observe how they manage their sales. As I am a regular customer there, spending at least $1,000 there each year on One big main set and two expansion sets, I build up a good relationship with the sales people. In recent months, the boss of the shop even starts to know me bit by bit already. Up to now, You all are stunned by the staggering figures ya? Well, I am surprised as i only include what i spend on Trading cards only. There are lots of memories in each purchase too. Well, I shall be able to reduce my spendings starting from the next main expansion. Hope so as i know i can do it, i will attempt to do it.

Monday, which is today is a contrast to the weekend that has just passed. Nokia just make me angry. I feel that they have cheated my S$58. Well i shall jot it down here before i may complain to them through one of nokia hotlines soon. Here is how it goes... ...

Just only 3 weeks ago, I went to Nokia Care Centre at century square to send my handphone N6260 under warranty for repairs. The date is 17/5/2005. The customer service lady who attended to me took down my handphone problems and typed alot in the computer. She did everything nicely but when she took my battery with warranty at the last minute, she did not record it down in softcopy properly and did not even print out the correct copy for me. All she do is to cancel a word which lead to my loss of S$58. The sentence which most likely would be true in many cases, just went wrong for me. Instead of the words "Aware book in without battery", She simply printed out the error hardcopy and made an amendment using a blue pen to it. And thus it becomes "Aware book in without battery". At this point of time, i thought my battery would be alright as it is an original battery brought from M1 Tampines Mall along with my N6260 back in 22 Nov 2004.

So according to that lady, i am told to collect about a week later. So on the following Tuesday, I was informed by a nokia person telling me that i can collect on that day itself. I went to collect on wednesday 25May, as i feel rather tired after my work on tuesday. The crucial part kicks in here. I reached at around 7:40pm and was serviced at around 8pm. I was told to pass in the queue no. with the word-singled-out service collection sort of receipt to a slim guy with specs handling the collection area at counter 8 and 9. I reckoned that the people there would have known that my battery was submitted with a bronze like hologram nokia seal on it. But when it was my turn, I still dunno about how important the battery is, until today. The guy just returned me my handphone and fitted everything inside it including the battery! He just did not give me a chance to examine my battery and he also did not know that i am supposed to examine the battery! Neither do i know it is important as i seldom go to Nokia Care Center for handphone repairs!

As i am also quite tired after work that day, the battery that he fitted inside my phone just look like my battery without seeing the other side of the battery itself. I just did not manage to get a longer glimpse before he finished putting my Handphone just as it looks before i send N6260 for repairs. He did tell me and show me only the IMEI board where the technician have changed to fix my problems. I was then told to sign 2 documents hurriedly, without me having any time to think if there could be any problems. As it seems almost fine, i signed and he attended to another customer shortly. As the service area is closing soon, i left while testing my N6260 along my way home. It was only when i reached home, i figured that i should open the back of my handphone to check the battery. As i found out that the battery is not original, i thought that perhaps if the battery is good for my handphone, why bother to change back to my appeared to be short-circuited original handphone battery? On 27th Friday that day, i cannot make it in time for repairing my handphone(there are still some errors with usage of Handphone) before 7:45pm which is last servicing time before it stops receiving queues. Therefore, i make an effort to send it for repairs again on 28 May Saturday.

I ended my working day on saturday at 1pm+. I reached Century Square,Tampines and send N6260 for repairs once more. The same lady happens to service me again. I had told her my problem(with lesser problems this time) and after she consult with the guy that returned my handphone to me a few days ago, she decided to send my battery that i received few days back, with a red circle(i still have that battery with a no. assigned on it) labeled, numbered sticker on it for repairs. She did not even know where my battery is at the moment and did not tell me that my battery cannot be found any more. So that time, I thought perhaps I would only pursue this issue if i know what the whole situation is about by the time i received my handphone which is 6 June 2005. This time round, the battery that i received back is still labeled with same red sticker. And you know what? This different lady who gave back my handphone says that the red labeled battery is faulty!!! I did not get any battery in exchange at all! Y like this? I send an original battery for their testing at first and then they gave me a lousy and looks-like great battery in return huh? After that, i stayed back a while and inspect my N6260 abit.

This time round, there appears to be no problem so far, and luckily i had my N6100 battery(Not original though but in good condition) with me which is compatible for N6260, which i found out incidentally while switching Sim card to my N6260. Or else, i would not be able to use N6260 for at least a few days! Few minutes later, i asked the Nokia sales corner how much is a BL-4C battery worth. I was shocked when the sales girl says it is S$58. My original battery was not exchanged for the better and they did not even change the faulty battery for me. In the end, i had to use the battery meant for N6100. N6100 is my second handphone by the way. Both times that i service my handphone within the space of less than three weeks, i did not get back any good battery in good condition at all! It all started when the lady who services me two times, during the reporting service session on 17th of may 2005. She issued me an amended A4 size service collection receipt using blue pen and issued the technicians another similar copy as that appears not to have any blue pen ink on it. Right now, i am frustrated and was thinking whether to make a complain or not. I only wanted at least a replacement of original battery back as that is my only original BL-4C battery.

Right now, i am frustrated and disappointed as the past nokia service experience have been delightful. I only wanted to have a replacement of original battery back as that is my only original BL-4C battery. I have been buying and supporting Nokia Phones all along. I have bought N6510, N-Gage with Mp3, N3120, N6100 and recently N6260. A few months after i got my N6260, I did not have an enjoyable experience as what i have experienced with the past handphones. Now, I feel disturbed by this recently serviced battery incident that is associated with my handphone, N6260. If i can have a replacement of my missing original battery BL-4C, i feel that it would give me more confidence in buying more original Nokia batteries and accessories in future. This could not happened if i am not a poly attachment student right now. Despite my tiredness, i am still concerned about this replacement of original battery problem of mine.

So do u agree if i should complain to Nokia for an S$58 original battery with its one year warranty still not yet over? I seriously do want some of my friends to tag on the tagboard on the right side for this problem. Any opinions or suggestions besides e-mail that my friend has suggested, please state in my tagboard. Thanks...

A moment of Happiness can turn into a period of disappointment.

SIP 4th week

Second week, Monday... I spent 2 days doing report alignments. But this time is alignment directly over their database using a software called PC Anywhere. It is sort of like a remote assistance that connects 2 computers in different locations to together. And so, i handled my first task since start of SIP. Though it is quite easy, but it gives me the feeling that i can move on to do tougher things for the company. And these few days, the boss asked me how i am coping so far. I am quite surprised that my boss concerns SIP students like me. It therefore gives me a bit more motivation to do well and learn more in the next few weeks during my stay in the company. Tuesday is relatively similar to the monday, except that i get to lunch with alot of colleagues this time round. I heard from one of my colleagues, who is a 2nd year BIT SIP student before at this company that the boss generally gives pay accordingly to the work load and work type. While it generally gives me incentives to do well, i am concerned whether if i will get my pay soon in time. As heard from my senior, he does not give the staffs pay in time for some months though.

Wednesday, i re-edit and add new tables to the Microsoft SQL Server with primary keys and learn about auto primary keys as well. Today, is a busy day as i got lots of tables to add and modifications to be done as well as breaking up of a table to many smaller tables to store data better. Generally a busy day and a satisfied day as well that i can lunch with colleagues once more. Meanwhile, my BIT partner lunch with my sec sch friend everyday happily.

Thursday morning finished all the Editing of SQL tables except for the marketing part of Transport Module Section. With me in the team, i am sure this project will be a success as i spotted quite a few errors after two of my colleagues have already discussed the details together. In the afternoon, i am told to start on Documentation - Entity Relationship Diagram. And for the start, i draw a lot of tables using visio and labeled them properly. And i finished this by friday afternoon with only foreign keys awaiting to be discussed yet. So, for the rest of friday, i spent some time looking at examples of the next documentation which i am to do, which is the Data Flow Diagram. I am looking forward to drawing DFDs again, but this time i will work more carefully as i am not really that good in drawing DFDs in the past.

There You are, I will write more soon... Damn that person who exposed my blog to angelfire somehow. As i found out, if u want to get back your account there, the percentage is nearly zero. As it leads to forms to inform abusers of the facilities. Hmmm damn angry. I will do something about Bg music of my blog soon... Saturday seems to be a busy and interesting day. This is just the first half of my post, Will blog soon!

If you want hope, U have to try your best no matter what.
