Jan 8 2007 - ... - my payar lebar fire station journey

Well... did not end the year n start this year well enough. Therefore, i suffer more stress... Oh well, the weather been bad recently and i can't blame anyone for anything though. Life has to carry on... I got to report to payar lebar fire station which is somewhere behind comfort driving center in ubi ave 4. Initially when i know i am posted to payar lebar station, i am somewhat disappointed as i want to go tampines fire station instead. But as it is uncontrollable by anyone in the academy and therefore i have to bear with it.

So here it goes, first 4 days are office hours, did learn some basic n operational stuffs but still not tat happy as perhaps i not settled down yet and i find each officer expectations of new staffs varies a lot from one to another n i therefore can feel the immense amount of peer pressure. Well, i agree it is good but wat i am worried is tat given by the rate of peer pressure in the station now, i may go bonkers despite there are support by some nice colleagues. So i continued to endure!!! but still feel quite some pressure especially from my rota commander. I know he is a good person, but he just expects me to do things much better by wat actually i can do.

Friday morning, i committed a grave error possibly ever. I actually jog a little instead of marching to report to my OC. I dunno wat makes me not march as i am sort of being forced to stand in for my rota for the morning roll call. Maybe too nervous n a little too haste for me to so fast stand in during the morning roll call. How can i possibly reject my RC decision to stand in front for roll call? I have rejected him a few times earlier, but i have not really settled in the station and he expects me to do it easily? I may have dissapointed a lot of people but maybe i want to get the roll call right to allow my RC to respect me more. Maybe i too tense, but i somehow knows wat to do but then did not manage to execute my actions well somehow. Well gotta get it right by observing from a distance with more focus then.

Anyway, i attended a few fire calls but somehow all of them are false alarms. Nevertheless, the crew tat includes me really get psyched up to fight real fire anytime even though we r having other duties like enforcement checks, hydrant testings or even in the middle of our sleep. Got to wear the fire gears n check around for any fires n locate any smoke source to find fire easily. Well, still have been struggling for these few duties but settle a little in somehow. Bus really not tat convenient as bus 58 does not appear in regular intervals, therefore have been taking cabs nowadays but have shared cabs ever since last duty with station colleagues to minimise expenditure. But if i am gonna be transferred to tampines fire station, most things should change most likely. Lesser peer pressure, direct bus n reduced travelling time are some of the benefits.

I heard from my changi station friend that tampines station really want to get 2 new section commanders as there are 2 personnels going to ORD soon. I really wonder y now tampines station then want people but not when we complete course? I should have already settled in tampines fire station by now as i went there for attachment too! Hmmm, nevertheless i did learn some stuffs in payar lebar fire station as well. I believe if i continue improving myself, my skills will be better n will not let down tampines fire station if i can be transferred. Wat i will miss is the friends that i have made in payar lebar fire station n the mess(leisure) area which is air-conditioned n nice to relax a little there. One thing i can say though is tat i have an equal proportion of desire to work in payar lebar and tampines. Though i have a slight edge in favour for tampines fire station. Whether or not that i have to be released for tampines fire station remains to be questioned. There are many admin work to do if i am to transfer n importantly i have quite some friends in tampines fire station which can help set up a good work environment. All now i can do is to pin my hopes with my RC, OC n DRC to c whether this is a feasible move or not. Somehow, somewhere in my heart, i got a sense of belonging in tampines fire station. But will i get transferred successfully??? We shall see ... ...

Persevere in dire times may earn u an opportunity within reach with hope.

Somethings in yr2006 not been done, how to move ahead in yr2007???

Expected to end yr 2006 happily. Did managed to end it peacefully but not happily enuff. It is just like when u open a book, the book has to be closed somehow at some point of time, ya? Now i feel like, it has been closed but with a bookmark before the last few pages.

This yr2006 has seen me grown much better, but somehow i still feel like something is missing in someway. I would not want to elaborate much, but i just hope that the coming few days can put an end somehow to a 'happening' 2006 for me in a proper manner. By saying so, having a proper end would allow me to put in better effort to work in payar lebar fire station properly.

Jus a quick close-in on year 2006 before (hopefully) an end is ending it properly.

*** To be continued... ***

Oh well, anyway today got a new wireless integrated modem known as 2ware951. Quite good, stable connection than my old prolink8000 modem. Can connect my laptop wirelessly with no much effort and no need for another router as modem is integrated with a router, only connected to desktop through yellow wire n 1 line to phone, 1 line to socket with a microfilter from modem. Simple enuff. next time, can jio friends come my house with laptops le. lol. Room still in need of more spring cleaning though, so not now ba. Glad to hav wireless network already. If add in Psp, i have 3 devices tat can connect to my own wireless network already. However my older desktop is still in my room awaiting to be perhaps sent for repairs.
The qn is should i repair it or not. Nevertheless, must see whether can it be fixed or not. Maybe should make my room more wirelessly friendly when reorganising my room soon ba.

Anyway, i ytd managed to fix a small prob in my mem stick of psp using computer. Was glad it is ok or else got to reformat my mem stick which i dun want to do so. Ok, finally got things to do for next few days. Time is running out, got to use my block leave more wisely. Hope tat i can survive in yr 2007. Learn more skills too. =)

Anticipation is great but prolonged anticipation is a pain sometimes.
